Project Canefire
• Since 1989 this organization has been providing wells, constructing buildings, and teaching sewing skills, primarily in the Dominican Republic but also iin Central America.
• During each two-week trip, the teams spend time doing mission work in the villages and providing local people with Bibles, clothing, and educational materials,
• We have seen the need and understand the requirements of getting clean water and education to the people of the Dominican Republic. It is our desire to continue our efforts there and expand our outreach to areas around the world.
These words of Jesus are our guide:
"Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful" (Luke 6:36).
"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me ... and if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of my little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward" (Matthew 10:40,42).
"He said to them, 'You also go and work in my vineyard'" (Matthew 20:7).
"Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field" (Matthew 9:35-38).
"So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 7:12).
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-29).
"And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me" (Matthew 18:5).
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me ... I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me" (Matthew 25:35-40).
"Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me" (Mark 9:37).
"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:43-46).
